Job Summary
The paralegal is responsible for providing essential legal and administrative support to lawyers in the management of their business law files. He/she works closely with the legal team by preparing documentation, conducting research and updating registers and databases. He/she also manages the entities' communications, deadlines and regulatory obligations, thus ensuring efficient management of client files.
Role and responsibilities
• Manage accounting and invoicing for all files, ensuring accurate and efficient financial management;
• Prepare legal documentation relating to provincial and federal companies, including articles of incorporation, amendments, resolutions and current transactions (incorporation, organization, merger, etc.);
• Update and maintain corporate books and records, ensuring annual monitoring of regulatory obligations for provincial and federal entities;
• Register entities in all provinces and territories of Canada, ensuring compliance with the specific requirements of each jurisdiction;
• Carry out legal and regulatory research necessary for the preparation of documents, including name research, and ensure legal monitoring of legislative changes likely to affect the
companies;
• Prepare reports and summaries on research carried out, and prepare closing agendas and necessary documentation in the context of purchases, sales of businesses and commercial and tax reorganizations;
• Perform any other related tasks as required, using skills to contribute to team efficiency and client satisfaction. Requirements Hold a college diploma (DEC) in legal techniques or equivalent training with a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a paralegal in business law; Bilingualism* (French and English) written and verbal;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
Writing skills (French and English)
Be comfortable with tax reorganizations. Skills and Abilities
Ability to work in a team and good interpersonal skills; Sense of autonomy, responsibility and priorities; Rigor and ability to manage several files simultaneously; Excellent communication skills; Discretion
